Kamala Harris Democratic National Convention speech: Kamala Harris, on Friday, August 23, accepted the Democratic presidential nomination in Chicago as the crowd broke into a rapture. Accepting the nomination, Kamala Harris pledged a “new way forward” if she is elected in the US Presidential elections in 2024. Kamala Harris, 59, said in her Democratic National Convention speech that if she’s elected as president, she will aim to pass a middle-class tax cut. Kamala Harris would be contesting against Republican Donald Trump.
1) Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris opened her speech at the party’s national convention with a tribute to her Indian-origin mother, Dr. Shyamala Gopalan Harris. She talked about her upbringing as her parents moved around the country for various jobs, and the virtues they instilled in her.
Kamala Harris recalled how her mother, at age 19, journeyed from India to California with a steadfast dream of becoming a scientist to cure breast cancer.
“I miss her every day, especially now—I know she’s looking down and smiling,” Kamala Harris said.
2)”I promise to be a president for all Americans. You can always trust me to put country above party and self, to hold sacred America’s fundamental principles from the rule of law to free and fair elections to the peaceful transfer of power,” the 59-year-old Harris told the crowd at Chicago’s United Center.
3)She also spoke about the “serious consequences” of putting “unserious man” Donald Trump back in the White House. “In many ways, Donald Trump is an unserious man. But the consequences, but the consequences, of putting Donald Trump back in the White House are severe,” Harris said.

4)She promised to create an “opportunity economy where everybody will have a chance to compete and succeed” and end America’s housing shortage.
5) Harris sought to contrast her agenda, which would prioritise the middle class. The Democratic nominee said she would pass a middle-class tax cut that would benefit more than 100 million Americans,
“Compare that to Donald Trump,” she said. “He fights for himself and his billionaire friends. And he will give them another round of tax breaks that will add up to $5 trillion to the national debt.” She also referenced Trump’s threat to raise tariffs on another nation, calling it a “Trump tax hike.”
6) “I promise to be a president for all Americans. You can trust me to prioritize the country over party and self, upholding America’s core principles, including the rule of law, free and fair elections, and peaceful power transfer.”
7)”In the ongoing battle between democracy and tyranny, I am clear on my stance and on America’s place.
8)Regarding Gaza: It is crucial to secure a hostage deal and a ceasefire now,” she declared, to applause. “Let me be clear: I will always support Israel’s right to defend itself and ensure it has the means to do so. The devastation in Gaza over the past 10 months is tragic, with countless innocent lives lost and people fleeing in desperation. The scale of suffering is heartbreaking. President Biden and I are committed to ending this conflict in a way that ensures Israel’s security, releases the hostages, alleviates suffering in Gaza, and allows the Palestinian people to achieve dignity, security, freedom, and self-determination.
9)We can forge a new path forward, “not as members of any one party or faction, but as Americans.”
If elected president, the 59-year-old Harris would become the first woman in history to become the US president.
